Instructional Technology

South Anna Elementary School is a student-centered, community-driven school that assures a quality education for success in a changing world.

We believe that each child can achieve his or her highest potential through equal opportunity and appropriate support.

We believe we must prepare our students to live, learn, work, and thrive in a changing global world.

The ability to utilize technology, both in and out of the classroom, is vital to the success of our students. Technology plays an important role in teaching and learning, and our schools strive to integrate technology into all aspects of curriculum, instruction and school management.

iSafe Hanover

Our school district is committed to maintaining a safe educational environment for our students. This commitment includes not only safety within our buildings, but also student safety and security when on the Internet and using interactive technologies. Technology provides valuable educational and informational tools, but it can be misused or dangerous in certain circumstances.

Blackboard will be used as a vehicle for integrating Internet Safety throughout the curriculum and for educator training. The purpose of the site is to provide information and resources to assist students, parents, and teachers in understanding the importance of being safe on the Internet. Hanover is using iSafe, Netsmartz and Cybersmart curriculum resources.

Virginia is the first state to mandate Internet Safety integration throughout the curriculum for all students. For information from the Virginia Department of Education, go to Guidelines and Resources for Internet Safety in Schools.
