Administrative Support

Diane Rodriguez - Office Assistant
Diane grew up in El Paso, Texas and has previously lived in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has worked in Henrico County as an Instructional Assistant, an Office Assistant for a Charter School in North Carolina, taught Preschool for 5 years, and was previously an Oral Surgery Assistant. She and her husband have two daughters, and she enjoys reading,  going to the beach, spending time with her family, and exploring all the sights of Virginia and surrounding states. Nicole Richardson - Financial Secretary

Nicole graduated from Atlee High School and attended VCU. She has worked for Hanover County Public Schools since 2006 as a sysop at Cool Springs Elementary School and the Financial Specialist for the Transportation Department. She is married to Bryon and has 2 daughters, Kayla & Olivia. She loves spending time with her family, shopping, & watching her favorite teams the Washington Capitals and Redskins.

North Denslow - Systems Operator

Michele Martin - School Nurse
Michele Martin is a graduate of VCU/ MCV School of Nursing.   In addition to working for HCPS, Michele works for VCU Health Systems on the Pediatric TCU. She also teaches dance at Dawn's School of Dance.  Michele , her husband and 5 children live in King William County.  She enjoys reading, cross-stitching and scrapbooking.

Carole Anne Ziolkowski - School Counselor

Carol Anne grew up and attended school in Hanover County.  She received an undergraduate degree in English from Mary Washington College (now UMW) and her Master’s Degree in guidance and counseling from Old Dominion University.  She has many years of experience as both an elementary classroom teacher and a school counselor.  Carol Anne enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing the piano, and reading.  Mrs. Z may be reached at

Courtney Leonarkis -  School Counselor

Courtney Leonarkis was born and raised in Spotsylvania, Virginia. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Radford University and her Master's Degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is the part-time school counselor at LMES and will be working with second grade students on Thursdays this year. Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching movies, trying new restaurants, and exploring all that Richmond has to offer. She is looking forward to a wonderful year at LMES! 


Melissa Chapman

Melissa is a native of New Kent County. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Old Dominion University. She recently completed her Post Masters endorsement in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been teaching for 10 years and has taught both Kindergarten and Pre-K (Hanover Preschool Initiative). Mrs. Chapman has been married for 15 years and has two daughters named McKinley and Addison.  She loves going to the beach, shopping, running and spending time with her family.

Becky Blanchard

Becky grew up in Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a Masters in Teaching and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She has taught Kindergarten for the past 14 years and loves teaching Kindergarten because the students are fun, creative, and full of surprises! When she is not at school, Mrs. Blanchard enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her friends and family. She is looking forward to another great year at LMES!

Lindsey Irwin 

Lindsey Irwin grew up in Mechanicsville and has been teaching in Hanover County for 12 years.  She attended Hanover County schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade.  Lindsey was a 2006 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a B.S. in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Teaching.  She taught first grade at Battlefield Park Elementary School for 2 years before coming to Laurel Meadow. She loves being a mommy to her two boys, Cooper and Parker!  She also enjoys working on home improvement projects, playing with her beagle, and spending time with her husband! Lindsey is excited for another fantastic year at Laurel Meadow!  

Karen Kane

Karen has been teaching for 20 years. She taught in Chesterfield County for 9 years and has been teaching in Hanover for the last 11 years.  She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Elementary Education and then went on to receive her Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has taught Kindergarten, Second and Third grades. Her family moved to Mechanicsville in 2005 and they are so happy to have made their home here in Hanover County! Karen’s husband Patrick is also an educator and they are very fortunate to have three wonderful daughters. The eldest is a senior at CNU, her middle daughter is beginning her freshman year at VA Tech (Go Hokies!), and her youngest daughter will be a junior at Hanover High School. Karen is also a Realtor for Hometown Realty when she is not teaching. 

Aryn Wilberger

Aryn Wilberger was born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia and graduated from Longwood University with a BS in Elementary Education.  This will be Mrs. Wilberger’s sixth year teaching Kindergarten and she couldn’t be more thrilled.  Aryn and her husband Doug enjoy spending time at the beach, watching football, being outside, and boating.  They have one daughter, Maeleigh, and two dogs, Remi and Zoey.  She is looking forward to another exciting year at Laurel Meadow.

 First Grade

Kathryn Barret

Kathryn is a product of Hanover County Schools and is entering her 18th year of teaching. She has taught kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 2nd grade. Mrs. Barret graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 2000, later completed her Masters Degree in Reading, and is a clinical faculty member at VCU. Reading is her favorite subject to teach and hopes to some day get a children's book published. She lives in Hanover with her husband, Clay who is a lieutenant with Henrico Fire, and her children Rachel(15), Andrew(12), and Thomas(10). In her spare time, she likes to go to Nags Head, read, participate in Bible studies, and spend time with her family.  She is looking forward to an exciting year with her students!

Amy Kuti

Amy Kuti grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia.  She graduated from the University of Virginia where she received her Masters in Teaching and a B.S. in Psychology.   She currently lives in Richmond with her husband Andrew, daughter Abby, and son Ben. When not in the classroom she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Judy Robins

Judy Robins has been teaching the first grade for 22 years and has been a part of the Hanover County family for the past eighteen years. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology from Randolph Macon College. Ms. Robins has three great kids. Her oldest, Lauren, is currently carrying on the family tradition, and is a teacher in Suffolk. Her son, Justin is attending Virginia Wesleyan University. Her youngest, Gracie enjoys a good debate and attends Atlee. Ms. Robins has two dogs, a cat, and lots of flowers. She enjoys spending time with her family, going to concerts, and crocheting.

Theresa Smither

Theresa Smither is originally from Southern California, but grew up in Northern Virginia.  After earning a degree in Spanish from Ferrum College, she relocated to Richmond where she worked in the financial services field.  She returned to school while her children were young to pursue a career in education. Theresa earned a post graduate degree in elementary education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Richmond. She has lived in Mechanicsville for the past 19 years with her husband Keith, two sons – Caleb and Keegan, and her daughter Marissa.  She enjoys watching her children participate in their many activities, traveling, and cooking.  Theresa is excited to be teaching 1st grade this year!

 Second Grade

Pam Arkesteyn

Mrs. Arkesteyn is entering her 15th year teaching in Hanover County. This is her sixth year at "The Meadow." She has her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Pam is married to her wonderful husband Renton and has two children, Caleb and Kinsley. Caleb is a senior at Lee Davis and Kinsley is a 8th grader at Stonewall Jackson Middle School. She enjoys photography, scrapbooking, spending time with her family and relaxing at the river. Pam is thrilled to be a part of the outstanding Laurel Meadow faculty and can not wait to meet her new students.

Lisa Hester

Lisa was born and raised in Hanover County. She earned her degree in Education from VCU and has been teaching 25 years. She has taught grades K-3 however, 2nd grade is her absolute favorite one to teach. She has been married to her wonderful husband for 25 years and they are blessed with two beautiful children and a 102 lb. black lab.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, playing with their dog Briar, making crafts, and going to the beach.


Renee Meyers

Renee is from Virginia Beach and graduated from the University of Virginia with a Master of Teaching degree and Bachelor degrees in Spanish and Psychology.  She lives in Hanover with her husband Eric and her daughter Addison.  Addison will be a Laurel Meadow Lion this year as she is starting kindergarten this fall.   Renee has taught in Hanover County for 18 years.  She loves traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.


Melissa Thurston

Melissa is originally from Saratoga Springs, NY.  After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Graphic Design, Melissa moved to Nashville and worked in advertising.  She has lived in Mechanicsville for the past 18 years.  When her children were young she returned to school and received her post graduate degree in education from the University of Richmond.  She taught kindergarten at Pole Green Elementary School before coming to Laurel Meadow. Melissa’s daughter attends Lynchburg College and her son will be a senior at Lee Davis High School.  Melissa enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her children.

 Third Grade

Erin Massimini

Erin Massimini grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated from the University of Virginia with a Master’s degree in Teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. This is her 14h year teaching in Hanover County where she has taught both second and third grade. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, playing soccer, going to different sporting events, and spending time with her husband and their three dogs.  She is looking forward to another exciting school year in third grade!


Elena Faulkner

Elena Faulkner is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.  Prior to moving to Virginia, she taught reading to at-risk students in Austin, Texas.  When she isn't teaching she enjoys spending time with her children, reading, and playing tennis.  She is excited to be teaching Language Arts in third grade this year!


Kim Peters

Kimberly grew up and graduated from college in Pennsylvania.  She has taught in Pennsylvania, California, and Virginia in grades three through six.  With most of her teaching years being in Virginia, she enjoys teaching third grade the most. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, exercising, the outdoors, photography, reading, and spending time with family and friends.


Patricia Walls

Patricia is originally from Johnstown, PA.   She graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.  She has been teaching at Laurel Meadow since it first opened.  Third grade is her absolute favorite grade to teach! She has three children and in her free time she enjoys walking, running,  and spending time with her family and friends.

Natalie Waite

Natalie Waite is a graduate of Hanover County and feels fortunate to be able to teach in the county she calls home. She graduated from Radford University with her Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Elementary Education. In her spare time, Mrs. Waite enjoys traveling with her husband, Mike, relaxing with her cat, Louie, and cooking. This will be Mrs. Waite’s third year teaching and she is excited for another fun year at The Meadow!


 Fourth Grade

Shelley Chandler

Shelley Chandler grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to Richmond after graduating from Longwood College in 1992. She taught first and second grade in Richmond City for 5 years before taking a year off to get her M.S. degree in Reading from Western Maryland College. She returned to Richmond to teach kindergarten for 6 years. Most recently, she served as a Title I Reading Specialist for 11 years in Henrico. This past year, she worked at Laurel Meadow in a couple long-term sub positions and is so excited to return as a full-time teacher. She lives in Mechanicsville with her husband and two kids, Ben and Abbie, who attend Pole Green Elementary. She is very excited to be at Laurel Meadow and work with the amazing 3rd grade team!

Kevin Layne

Kevin Layne is a Mechanicsville native. He earned his Bachelors’ degree in Elementary Education from Radford University. Mr. Layne also obtained his Masters’ in Educational Leadership from VCU.  He has previously taught fourth and fifth grade in Hanover County.  He is married to Emily, a second grade teacher in the county.  They have two children, Kaden (9) and Cooper (4).  Mr. Layne loves spending time with his family and playing golf.  He is looking forward to teaming with parents and students to make this year a great year for his students.

Ashton Pestick

Ashton Pestick was born and raised in Hanover County and attended Lee Davis High School. She received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and taught in Caroline County for the past 2 years. Aston enjoys spending time with her loving husband, Bobby, and her sweet little man, 6 month old Charlie. She is very excited to start her journey at LMES!

Jamie Pocta

Jamie Pocta grew up in Hanover and graduated from Atlee High School.  She went to Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree and William and Mary for her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.  She taught first grade for three years in Henrico before teaching in Hanover.  She is very excited to start her fourth year at Laurel Meadow and work with the wonderful school faculty and community!  She lives in Hanover with her husband, Kevin, and daughter, Annabelle.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, Virginia Tech football, going to the beach, exercising, and shopping.  She is looking forward to a great year with her fourth graders!


Sarah Willard

Sarah Willard grew up in Camarillo, California and attended California Lutheran University, where she majored in Liberal Arts.  She earned her Masters' of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Averett University in 2009.  Mrs. Willard has taught for fourteen years, teaching fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.  Mrs. Willard is married to Andy Willard, a financial analyst, and has two children: twelve-year old Emily and eight-year old Katie, who both attend Hanover County Public Schools. Her hobbies are reading, traveling, cooking, spending time outdoors, crafts, playing piano, and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Willard is very excited to continue teaching fourth grade at Laurel Meadow Elementary School!

 Fifth Grade

Kim Allen

Kim was born and raised in Erie, PA. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Westminster College, in New Wilmington, PA. In May 2008, she received her Masters degree as a Math Specialist from VCU.  She has taught grades 1-4 and is excited to teach fifth grade this year! When she is not teaching, Mrs. Allen can be found spending time with her two children Sydney and Ryan, cooking, being outside, watching movies, or visiting family in Pennsylvania. Kim appreciates the positive atmosphere and support of Laurel Meadow parents in helping their children succeed! 

Kristin Hazelwood

Kristin Hazelwood is a Mechanicsville native and is thrilled to begin her 13th year of teaching, her 10th at Laurel Meadow!  Mrs. Hazelwood graduated from Radford University in 2005, and taught three years of 3rd grade at Gandy Elementary before “graduating” to 4th grade at Laurel Meadow when it opened.   She absolutely loved teaching 4 th grade, and cannot wait to spread her wings as she "graduates" to 5th grade this year!  Mrs. Hazelwood lives in Mechanicsville with her husband, Jason, their beautiful 6 year-old daughter, Lucy, very active 2 year-old son, Lane, and their dog, Skip. She loves spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and shopping.
Claude Lundquist

Mr. Lundquist grew up in Arlington, Virginia and now lives in Hanover with his wife. He has taught 4th, 5th, and 7th graders in Hanover County for the past 26 years.  Mr. Lundquist enjoys history, reading, traveling, and following a variety of sports teams (he loves the Washington Redskins, Nationals, and Capitals)! He is looking forward to another exciting year of learning, exploring, and having fun at Laurel Meadow!


Sonja McGinnis

Sonja McGinnis grew up here in Mechanicsville and went to several different elementary schools (East End Elem., Battlefield Park Elem., and Cold Harbor), Stonewall Jackson MS, and then Lee Davis HS.  She went to Radford University and UNC-Wilmington.  She has taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 4th grade, and 5th Grade at Mechanicsville Elementary, and at a Dept. of Defense Dependent School in Okinawa, Japan.  Her husband, David and she have three sons, Shane, Logan and Torin.  She loves to read, discovering new places, working with technology, and spending time with her family.  

Amanda Taylor
Amanda was raised in Northern Virginia and now lives in Mechanicsville with her husband and two sons.  She went to Radford University and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  Amanda has a total of 11 years teaching experience. She taught in Fairfax County for nine years and Hanover County for two years before deciding to become a stay at home mom.  She is very excited to start back after 12 years and looks forward to an awesome year teaching 5th Grade. Amanda enjoys yoga, running, hiking, any outside activity, and spending time with her family and friends.   

 Special Services

Cierra Bradett - Academic Resource Teacher

Cierra was born in Charlottesville, VA but lived in Northern Virginia and Maryland throughout grade school. She graduated from Old Dominion University in May 2016. Cierra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her dog Ziggy, as well as watching Netflix, exploring new places, and being adventurous. Cierra is very excited about the new school year!

Tracie Haas - Academic Resource Teacher

Mrs. Haas is originally from Ocean Township, NJ where she lived until moving here to Mechanicsville nearly 13 years ago. Mrs. Haas earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Rhode Island. She earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, New Jersey.  Mrs. Haas has been married for 21 years and has 3 children. Her oldest daughter is 14, and her twin girls are 8.  When not in school working with her students, Mrs. Haas loves to read, shop and lounge by the pool. 

Jennifer Jones - Academic Resource Teacher

Jennifer grew up on a farm in Madison, Virginia. She graduated from Radford University in 2005 with a degree in elementary education and then went on to get her special education endorsement in specific learning disabilities. Jennifer taught special education in Franklin County for 3 years and has been teaching in Hanover for the past 6 years. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys relaxing at home and spending time with her husband and boxer puppy.

Sarah Oates - Academic Resource Teacher

Sarah grew up in Hanover County and is a graduate from Atlee High School.  She attended James Madison University for undergrad and Longwood University for her masters.  In the past, she worked as a special education teacher for 12 years (7 of those at LMES), and 2 years as a reading specialist here at LMES.  This year she is excited to return to LMES as an Academic Resource Teacher again!  She enjoys spending time with her husband and four kids and enjoys being part of such a supportive community. 

Maggie Sculthorpe - Academic Resource Teacher

Maggie Sculthorpe grew up in Glen Allen, Virginia . She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Longwood University . She previously taught at Elmont Elementary and taught part-time in Henrico County from 2004-2009. Ms. Sculthorpe has two sons, James and Sean.  In her free time, she enjoys running, spending time at the river, and reading.  Ms. Sculthorpe is a proud member of the Laurel Meadow team!

Gerry Strauss - Academic Resource Teacher

Gerry is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, Business Management. Pursuing her love of working with children, she earned her teaching certificate in Special Education, Learning Disabilities from VCU.  She looks forward to another year with the fabulous staff at Laurel Meadow and bestowing her love of math to all her students.
Amanda Riley - Speech Language Pathologist

Amanda grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and attended Central Michigan University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology.  Amanda has been working with students in Hanover County for nine years and she enjoys helping students improve their communication skills. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, playing sports and going to the beach. Amanda is looking forward to another great year at Laurel Meadow!


Meg Bost - Speech Language Pathologist

Meg grew up in Mechanicsville and attended Rural Point, Stonewall Jackson, Lee Davis, & Atlee. She graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor's & Master's in Communication Sciences & Disorders. She has been a Speech Language Pathologist at Mechanicsville Elementary for 17 years and joined the staff at Laurel Meadow last year. She has twins, Aidan & Gracie, who are Sophomores at Hanover High. In her free time, she loves to make crafts, play music, and spend time with family & friends. She is looking forward to another wonderful year at LMES! 

Kimberly Worley - District Teacher of ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages

Kim was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN.  After getting a degree in Elementary Education, she moved to Nashville, TN to begin teaching.  While there, Kim received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis on English as a Second Language.  She has taught for a total of 9 years, both in the classroom and also specifically ESL.  Kim loves working with the ESL students, seeing them grow and learn new things everyday!  Her family has lived in Mechanicsville for several years. Kim enjoys spending time with husband, Jeremy, and being mommy to her two kids, Ella and Noah. Some of her favorite things are going to the beach, being involved at her church, spending time outside!

Alicia Broughton- Gifted Resource Teacher               

Alicia Broughton grew up in Syracuse, New York and attended Cortland College. She earned both a Bachelor's degree in Advertising & Sports Management, and a Masters of Science in Teaching degree.  Since living in Virginia, she added an endorsement in Gifted Education from the University of Virginia and her Administration endorsement from Longwood University. Mrs. Broughton earned her National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 2014.  She lives in Mechanicsville with her husband Bryan, their son Cameron, and twin boys, Lathan and Tanner. Mrs. Broughton loves reading, STEM, the beach, snowboarding, traveling, and playing volleyball.  She's excited for another exciting year at The Meadow!

Jennifer Clemons - Core Reading Specialist

Mrs. Clemons is originally from Tinton Falls, NJ. She is a graduate of Harding University in Searcy, AR where she earned an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading. She received her endorsement as a Reading Specialist from ODU and is a certified Reading Recovery Teacher. Mrs. Clemons taught for 21 years in Newport News before moving to Mechanicsville in 2015. Since moving to Mechanicsville she has been a Reading Specialist at BES and MES and is happy to join the faculty at LMES this year! She has been married to her husband, Scott for 22 years. They have a 20 year old son, Joshua and a 16 year old daughter, Rachel. Mrs. Clemons loves teaching reading, being outside, gardening, and canning.

Hilary Coakley - Core Reading Specialist

Hilary Coakley is originally from Harford County, Maryland.  She graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC where she earned degrees in Sociology and Education.  Hilary taught kindergarten and was a reading specialist in Greensboro. She earned her Master’s degree in Reading and Reading Endorsement from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Hilary is passionate about integrating the social curriculum into every avenue of teaching.  She enjoys incorporating technology and 21st Century skills into teaching reading and writing. Hilary earned her National Board Certification in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts / Early and Middle Childhood in 2013.  Hilary has been teaching at Laurel Meadow since the school opened in 2008.  She lives in Henrico county with her husband and middle school age son, James.  She enjoys reading and traveling with her family in her free time.  

Kim Lawrence - Math Coach

Kim Lawrence grew up in Richmond, Virginia. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from University of Richmond and her Masters degree from VCU with a Specialization in Elementary Mathematics. She is excited to continue serving as the Math Coach for Laurel Meadow Elementary and Washington Henry Elementary.  She previously taught second and third grade at LMES and also taught first and second grades at Elmont Elementary.  Kim has been teaching in Hanover for 21 years. She enjoys scrapbooking, shopping, eating out, and most of all, spending time with her husband and two daughters, Ashleigh and Emily. 

Sarah Willson - School Psychologist

Sarah Willson grew up in Roanoke, Virginia.  She completed undergraduate work at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and graduate work at James Madison University.  She has been a school psychologist with Hanover County for the past 8 years. She enjoys cooking, reading, visiting with friends, and spending time with her husband and two children.


Jane Ball - School Social Worker

Jane Ball grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Art Education with a Minor in Women’s Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Social Work degree at the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She is new to Hanover County, but not to social work! Jane has 15 years of experience working with children and families. She enjoys any opportunity to be creative, from solving unique problems, to drawing, building things and playing music with her husband and two young children.

Adrienne Baten - Educational Diagnostician
Adrienne graduated from Old Dominion University .  She holds a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Special Education. In her spare time, Adrienne enjoys spending time with her family, vacationing at the beach, reading, and watching HGTV.  Mrs. Baten is originally from Texas, but has lived all over the United States as an Air Force Brat.   She is married with two children.


Janet Holder -  COTA

Mrs. Holder has been an occupational therapy assistant for 17 years. She lives in New Kent and likes to swim, cycle, and kayak in her spare time.

Michelle Kaloski - Library Media Specialist

Michele Kaloski grew up in Hanover County and attended Lee-Davis High School. She graduated from Longwood College in 1992 with a B.S degree in elementary education and received her M.S. in Library Media Spring of 2008.  She taught second, third, and fourth grades at Pearson’s Corner Elementary School for 19 years. Mrs. Kaloski lives with her husband Chris and two dogs Bella and Breeze in King William.  She enjoys Virginia Tech football games, Nascar racing, camping, fishing, traveling, and reading, especially at the beach.  Mrs. Kaloski is very excited to be a part of  “The Meadow” family and looks forward to promoting a love for reading throughout the school.  She plans to provide a welcoming student-centered library with a variety of resources for students and faculty. 

Beth Webel - Library Secretary

Beth is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Virginia Tech she taught at Lee-Davis High School for five years.  She has been married for twenty-four years, and left teaching to have three children, a son who graduated from UVA in 2017, and a daughter and son now at James Madison University. She is thrilled to be the library office assistant at Laurel Meadow, especially since children and books are two of her favorite things!

Peggy Matthews - P.E. Teacher

Peggy Matthews has been teaching Physical Education in Hanover County for the last 11 years. Prior to living here, she was in Kitty Hawk, NC and Accomack County, VA .  Peggy has coached soccer, baseball, volleyball, crew, track and field, lacrosse and field hockey.  At Laurel Meadow she serves as the Team Leader, a member of the Crisis Team and 5k committee.  When not teaching, Peggy can be found walking her dogs, gardening or bargain hunting.


Tiffany Talley - Music Teacher

Tiffany Talley is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and is Orff level I and II certified.  She has taught music at Laurel Meadow Elementary School since it’s opening in 2008 and was named this year’s Laurel Meadow “Teacher of the Year”.  For more than eighteen years, she has educated budding musicians at all grade levels and has served as music director for several churches in the Richmond area. Mrs. Talley shares her love for singing by participating in the music ministry at First Baptist Church of Richmond.  She resides in Hanover County with her husband, Michael where they have raised their two sons, Anthony and Chase.

Elizabeth Verlander - Instructional Technology Resource Teacher

Elizabeth was born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Teaching. She later returned to Virginia Commonwealth University to receive an endorsement in Administration and Supervision.  Elizabeth formerly taught Kindergarten and 1st grade for 16 years at Washington Henry Elementary School.  She currently resides in wonderful Hanover County with her husband, Chris and their 3-year old son Bentley.  In her free time, Elizabeth loves exploring new technologies, shopping, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.  Her favorite summer places to be are reading a good book on the beach and partaking in river activities (boating, fishing, crabbing, and swimming) with her loved ones.  Elizabeth looks forward to getting to know all Laurel Meadow staff, students, and parents.

Tracie Helmick - Kindergarten Aide

Tracie has lived in Mechanicsville her whole life. She attended Liberty University where she met her wonderful husband, Mark. Tracie has three fabulous kids, two of which are following in her footsteps by attending Liberty University. Her youngest is an 8th grader at Stonewall.  Tracie spends her spare time loving and spoiling her 6 lb yorkie, Bella!

Carole West - Kindergarten Aide

Carole has been a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant at the Meadow for 14 years and feels very blessed to be at LMES and a job she loves! She’s been married to her high school sweetheart, Kenny for 36 years and has 3 sons. They also have 2 spoiled dogs; a Black Lab named Abby and an American Bulldog named Daisy Mae. Carole enjoys spending time with her family, attending Community Bible Study, reading, decorating and gardening.

Denise Bonovitch

Denise is originally from Maryland. She moved to Mechanicsville 17 years ago with her family. Denise has been married for 32 years and has one daughter. She has worked for Hanover County in different capacities for 13 years. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, shopping, and traveling. Denise loves working at LMES  and is looking forward to another amazing year.


Monica Buck

Mrs. Buck grew up in Boston, MA.  After moving to Florida to attend college, she met and married Larry, her husband of 15 years.  They have lived in Mechanicsville for 10 years. They have two daughters, Brianna and Sydney, and two spoiled dogs.  Mrs. Buck is looking forward to another wonderful, fun year at LMES.


JoAnn Dungee

JoAnn lives in King William County with her husband Scott. She has 2 daughters, Candice and Kristen. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, working out, sports, and baking. JoAnn is looking forward to another wonderful, amazing year at LMES.

Mary Jackson

Mary Jackson grew up in Maryland. She and her husband Dave lived in 5 different states before settling in Mechanicsville.  They have four children; Sarah 19, Kate 17, Daniel 16, and Emily 8.  Her family also has several pets including 2 horses, a dog, 2 cats , 3 geckos, a rat, a snake, and fish. In her spare time Mary enjoys horseback riding, reading, hiking and spending time with her family. This will be Mary's 7th year of working with HCPS and she is looking forward to her first year at LMES.


Renita Like
Renita was born and raised on a farm in Indiana.  She has been married to her husband Jeff for 32 years and they have EIGHT children! This is her first year of working in the school system and she is very excited!  Renita enjoys spending time with her family and helping others.  She knows this is going to be a great year at LMES!


Sara Matthews

Sara grew up in Chesterfield County and attended Radford University. She has been happily married to her husband, Brent, for 18 years. They have 3 children who all attended Laurel Meadow. Her oldest son, Noah, is senior at Lee-Davis High School. Her son, Sam (8th grade), and daughter, Hannah (7thgrade), both attend Stonewall Jackson Middle School. In the last 9 years, Sara has filled many roles at LMES, including PTA President, and joined the awesome staff at LMES in 2016 as an Instructional Assistant. Sara enjoys supporting her children in all of their activities, is a Girl Scout leader, LDHS “Tennis mom”, and cheers on the LDHS Show Choir at all of their competitions.

Cris Morgan

Cris grew up out west and has lived in Mechanicsville for several years. She absolutely loves it here. She has 2 children. Samantha is attending Brigham Young University in UT, with her husband Jon. Her son John is attending the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. They have a sweet little dog named Bleeker. She loves working in the Academic Resource program at LMES and especially loves her “Meadow” family. Her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys exercising, dancing, singing, and she is a big movie buff.
