The Hanover County Science Curriculum is focused on building students’ science literacy and content knowledge through inquiry. Grades Kindergarten through 5th investigate contents under the three disciplines; Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science.  Middle school students spend one year on each discipline to deepen their understanding of content; 6th grade General Science, Earth Science - 7th grade and Physical Science - 8th grade.  All ninth graders complete a deeper understanding of Life Science content through studies in Biology.

High school science courses include Chemistry, Physics, Oceanography, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Anatomy, and Ecology.  Our goal is for all students to be successful in science by problem-solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, and deepening their understanding of their world - on land, under water and in space.
