Math 6  

This course is designed to develop mathematical understanding and to increase student competencies in the following areas: numeration and units of measure, operations with whole numbers, fractions (both decimal and common), geometry (including area, perimeter, and volume), number theory, integers, graphing and ratio, proportion, and percent. Problem-solving strategies and applications will be a focus throughout the year. Statistics and probability will be infused into the curriculum; computer and calculator activities will be integrated appropriately.

Math 7  
The course involves the understanding and application of whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, geometric concepts, ratios, proportions, and percents. Probability and statistics will be integrated into the course content. Computers and calculators will be used as tools to enhance problem-solving techniques and understanding of basic concepts.  

Pre-Algebra (Math 8)


Pre-algebra reviews concepts of arithmetic and introduces the student to algebra and geometry with an emphasis on real world applications. Connections among mathematical concepts will be studied and algebraic expressions will be used to express mathematical patterns. Calculators are used throughout the course.

Algebra I  

Since Pre-Algebra skills and concepts are an important component of the secondary mathematics program, it is strongly recommended that students take Pre-Algebra prior to enrolling in Algebra I. This course emphasizes the structure of algebra and is designed to help students achieve proficiency in algebraic skills.


Prerequisite: Algebra I    
This course emphasizes coordinates, transformational geometry and measurement, theorems, and formal definitions of geometric terms. Students will work with proofs requiring applications of logic. Students will also solve numerical and algebraic problems which apply geometric concepts. Calculators, computers and graphing utilities are used.
